ABOUT US

We operate as The Forrest Initiative, sponsored by TJ’s Gardens. TJ’s is a partnership of Travis MacKenzie and James Orpeza. They began growing cannabis when Chamelle, Travis’ wife suffered a traumatic brain injury and exhausted all of her options for healing. Initially apprehensive, cannabis came to save her quality of life. Having acquired an unnamed CBD clone, TJ’s unanimously agreed to offer it to children in a way that would not hinder already struggling families. Initially supporting only Forrest, word spread. While profit is required in any business it was decided that it would not come from ailing children and families already suffering, and the program was born.  Cham managed the program for the first two years of its induction.

Spending all of her free time advocating and supporting new parents. As need grew and those she advocated for could now lend a hand to new parents, Cham transitioned over to her unofficial role as the heart of TJ’s. Travis a father of 3, purveyor of dad jokes and is an encyclopedia of knowledge and his partner James, a new dad, amazing gardener and west coast native are the T and J. Tanesha is now the director and mother to Forrest. Tanesha spent 20 years in geriatrics, both clinical and administrative until her son's epilepsy changed the landscape of their life. Combined with almost a hundred processors, gardeners and staff this program is the soul of TJ’s mission. We are excited, proud and humbled that the plants we grow have the potential to do so much good. We hope that we will be able to help each and every one of you.
